Apple's iPhone SE 2020 is one of the best budget smartphones around, but it lacks a feature that all other iPhones have, namely the ability to magnify notifications using Haptic Touch.

MacRumors noted that the iPhone SE cannot display detailed content on the lock screen or notification panel by holding down the display. Normally, doing so activates the tactile engine of the latest iPhones, allowing more information to be seen within locked phone calls and notifications without actually moving to the app or home screen.

We tested this claim on our own iPhone SE and were able to confirm that notifications do not expand on a long press.

If you want to see the details of a notification on the iPhone SE, you must tap the "View" button by the notification. This effectively adds an extra step to viewing information at a glance, which is a bit frustrating given how intuitive Apple's new phone is to use.

This seems like an odd omission from the $399 iPhone SE, which features the same powerful A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11 Pro. If you are used to using Haptic Touch on previous iPhones and decided to get the iPhone SE, not being able to access additional information with a long press may feel a little strange.

Since the iPhone SE has the Haptic Touch feature, it is possible that Apple will add this feature via a software update. Alternatively, Apple may intentionally leave this feature for high-end smartphones and encourage those who want to use the iPhone to its full potential to choose the iPhone 11.
