A new Dell XPS 15 design is on the way. With a new display design, top speakers, and IR camera, it may blow away the MacBook Pro 2020 machines.

The new Dell XPS 13 is already available, suggesting that the 15-inch model will undergo a similar redesign, if normal. And thanks to a leaked image posted on the Korean Energy Agency's Efficiency Standardization and Certification Center website, it appears that the redesigned XPS 15 will get many clues as to the sleek design of its smaller sibling.

Most notably, the display bezel will be minimal, thanks to Dell's use of a small webcam on the top bezel and shaving off the bottom bezel, which took up a good amount of space on the older XPS 15. The InfinityEdge display on previous XPS machines was impressive, but a true 15-inch edge-to-edge screen may well become the new standard for laptops in the 15-inch range.

Speaking of webcams, the XPS 15 camera in this news uses a camera module rather than a circular lens. This suggests that it may include an IR sensor that enables Windows Hello facial recognition, something older XPS laptops lacked despite the biometric security features used in the Surface Laptop 3 and others.

Another major change to the existing XPS 15 design: according to leaked images, the new XPS 15 will have upward-facing speakers like the MacBook Pro 16-inch. Apple has had very impressive speakers on its MacBook models for some time been doing so, but the new XPS 15 could take the laptop audio crown away from Apple.

The trackpad also looks similar to the Force Touch trackpad on the MacBook Pro and appears to be significantly larger than the current XPS 15 trackpad Given that Apple's trackpads are among the best, the new XPS 15 appears to take inspiration from it.

Although hard to spot in the image, Dell appears to have placed the XPS 15's power button inside the keyboard. While this makes for a more minimalistic and sleek design, the unfamiliar design could lead to accidentally pressing the power button instead of the key you want to hit.

No word on a release date, but these images show that Dell has the XPS 15 pretty much ready to go.
