The iPhone 12 release date has been the subject of much speculation due to the coronavirus outbreak. iPhone 12 will be released this fall, according to some reports, while others say it could be delayed to the holiday season or even early 2021.

If these latest reports prove accurate, the truth will be somewhere in between. And those who want an iPhone 12 with the largest display will have to be prepared to wait.

According to MacRumors, Jeff Pu, an analyst at Chinese research firm GF securities, said that the Engineering Verification Test phase of iPhone 12 development may have been extended by two weeks. That would put the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 in late April, the same timing as the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro.

The EVT phase of the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro will reportedly not take place until mid-May. As a result, Pooh said he expects the release dates for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and the two 6.1-inch devices to be in September. The largest, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro, will not hit store shelves until October.

As MacRumors points out, Apple has been rolling out the iPhone in two phases in the past. This includes the iPhone 8, which was released in September, followed by the iPhone X in November. And the iPhone XR was released in October, following the September launch of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

But from what we're hearing, the main difference between the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max is just size. The previous two phases of the announcement talked about completely different phones.

Generally speaking, all four iPhone 12 models are expected to feature OLED displays this time around, 5G connectivity, and Apple's fast new A14 Bionic processor, which is as powerful as a MacBook Pro. However, the iPhone 12 Pro model is expected to again feature a third telephoto camera, as well as a new LiDAR scanner for advanced augmented reality (AR) performance and enhanced photo and video capture with time-of-flight data.

During this time, according to analyst Pu, Apple will unveil the new iPhone SE/iPhone 9 in mid-April. That phone is expected to be priced at $399 and, like the Google Pixel 4a, will feature a 4.7-inch display, A13 chip, and Touch ID.
