WhatsApp got a huge upgrade with these new features

WhatsApp's latest beta version is expected to implement two features: advanced content-based search filters and the option to password-protect message backups.

The Google Play Beta Program recently received beta Android 2.20.117; according to WABetaInfo, this update catches up the Android beta to iOS 2.20.30.2, with Advanced Search's useful features have already been released.

Advanced Search allows users to sort WhatsApp message archives by content type to find what they are looking for. Whether it's old links to recipes, killer memes, voice recordings, or video clips, this feature narrows the search based on file format.

This feature is similar to Gmail's new "search tip," which adds content filters to text-based searches.

Along with Advanced Search, Android users will soon be able to protect their data catalog with Protect Backup. When attempting to perform a message backup, an option to add a password to encrypt future saves will appear.

The password used to protect the backup will not be stored by Whatsaspp or Facebook, WhatsApp's parent company, meaning it is unlikely that your archives will be hacked. However, if you want to see your backups again, you need to make sure you don't forget the password once you set it.

It is not yet known when advanced search and backup protection will be available to WhatsApp Android users. To try this beta, sign up to be a beta tester here.

The beta may contain bugs, so if you rely on the chat app, it is worth waiting for the next official WhatsApp update.
