Samsung's Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2, both of which may feature a built-in under-screen selfie camera, will launch this summer, as expected.

The Korea Herald (via PhoneArena) reports that Samsung's new Galaxy Note series devices will feature the world's first under-display selfie camera, as well as a new S Pen stylus and the Galaxy S20 Ultra's 6.9-inch display, and a huge 7-inch display, larger than the Galaxy S20 Ultra's 6.9-inch display. Furthermore, the source said that Samsung has begun planning an August launch for its next flagship smartphone and larger foldable, which could happen as early as July.

"Preparations are underway for the upcoming Galaxy Note launch and there will be no delay," the insider said.

"However, there have been no discussions yet regarding a physical event, and we are looking into avenues such as an online event, which would be a great opportunity to showcase the Galaxy Note to the public.

Samsung's last major launch was in February, when the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Z flip were unveiled. This was before the coronavirus pandemic disrupted business around the world. We have heard these claims before, but the fact that they were repeated by an authoritative national newspaper in the same country as Samsung makes them even more credible.

There have been several attempts to place a front-facing camera under the display, with Oppo and Xiaomi showing off versions of this technology within hours last June. We have heard rumors that Samsung will include an equivalent in one of its 2020 phones, and the premium Note 20 or Fold 2 models seem like the ideal platform for this to debut.

The Note 10's S Pen adds new features such as air gestures and the ability to use it as a remote shutter to take pictures without holding onto the phone. We expect more such features to be added to this year's model.

We expect the iPhone 12 to be the largest Apple has ever produced, but rumor has it that it will still only be 6.7 inches and likely smaller than the Note 20. The notch is expected to shrink on the iPhone 12, but assuming Samsung makes it work reliably, this will be inferior to the front camera on the sub-display. Additionally, Apple has never shipped an iPhone with a stylus and is unlikely to do so in the future. This is a trio of exciting features that Samsung is using almost exclusively to entice people to buy the Note 20.

It has been suggested that the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 borrow important aspects of the Galaxy S20, and we expect this to include the S20 Ultra's amazing camera. the Note 20 will feature the new S-Pen stylus back and will have an even larger display, but it will be interesting to see if it can be meaningfully differentiated from the larger S20 model.

On the other hand, the Fold 2 may include an S-Pen, as well as display improvements such as a smaller notch and a camera setup for the sub-display. Hopefully, Samsung will also work on a folding mechanism.
