The OnePlus8 specification has just been leaked by the company's CEO

The OnePlus 8 is less than two weeks away from launch. But that hasn't stopped the company's CEO from revealing some of the key specs himself as a teaser.

Pete Lau posted on the OnePlus forum, where he told fans about the OnePlus 8's memory, processing, and 5G technology. But you don't have to be a OnePlus disciple to appreciate the technology in this phone.

First, the Snapdragon 865 CPU, which we expected to see in the OnePlus 8 because this processor is found in all large Android phones in 2020, including Samsung's Galaxy S20.

The Snapdragon 865 boasts three improvements over its predecessor: 25% better CPU performance, 25% better GPU rendering time, and 25% better energy efficiency. The 865 chip also gives the entire OnePlus 8 lineup 5G compatibility.

For RAM, Lau announced that the OnePlus 8 series will use LPDDR5 modules, which transfer data twice as fast as the regular LPDDR4 RAM found in modern smartphones and are 45% more power efficient. OnePlus is also focusing on storage memory acceleration, upgrading the widely used UFS 3.0 standard with "Turbo Write" and "Host Performance Booster" to improve retrieval of both recently stored and older memory.

Although no details were given, Lau also promised that the OnePlus 8 will offer software optimizations, which may point to improvements in OxygenOS, the OnePlus version of Android 10.

OnePlus announced that the launch event will take place on April 14 and will be broadcast live on its website and YouTube channel. Besides the information Lau conveyed in his forum post, we also have some big company-first rumors of the OnePlus 8 Pro, like a 120Hz display to look forward to (on at least one model), quad camera array, IP68 rating, and 30W wireless charging.
