After rumors of an iPhone 9 launch this week, another rumor has circulated that Apple's mid-range phone will launch later this month.

This comes from Jon Prosser's Twitter (via TechRadar), where he says this information was leaked from a recent Apple internal meeting. However, he says these dates are still subject to change, as no one knows how a coronavirus pandemic will affect business operations.

This comes a day after OnePlus unveiled its OnePlus 8 series and also the day after Honor held its Honor 30 series event. But there is no doubt that Apple will be in the spotlight thanks to the huge popularity of its devices.

Earlier rumors suggested that the new device could be announced by March 31 or the same weekend (April 3), based on shipments of iPhone 9 compatible cases to Best Buy. Both of these rumors suggest that Apple may have made a last-minute change, or that Urban Armor simply decided to get the cases to retailers early to get a head start.

The iPhone 9 is expected to be the cheapest iPhone 8-style device since the iPhone SE at about $400 and offer a complete iOS experience. With Google's Pixel 3a (and the upcoming Pixel 4a) also targeting this price point, and many other smartphone makers offering phones in the same price range, the demand is clear that Apple believes it can take advantage. [Both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions of the iPhone 9 are expected to feature Touch ID and a single rear camera, and will be powered by the same A13 Bionic CPU as the iPhone 11 series.
