Windows 10 has a serious Internet Bug: How to Patch It Now

If you are having trouble connecting your Windows 10 computer or Office 365 account to the Internet, you may be affected by a rather irritating software bug. Fortunately, Microsoft is addressing the issue.

As reported by ZDNet, Microsoft confirmed the existence of the bug on March 26 and is now issuing patches for affected PCs and servers. The issue has prevented applications such as Teams, Office, Office365, Outlook, Internet Explorer 11, and in some cases Microsoft Edge from connecting to the Internet.

The issue occurred because people using versions of Windows 10 updated on or after February 27 were using proxies or VPNs on their devices.

Needless to say, without Internet access, remote work becomes much more difficult.

Microsoft initially said they would have an update ready in early April, but it was brilliantly early and now the fix is ready. [The update, titled "2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10," is not a generic update and will not be provided automatically. Microsoft states that it should only be installed if there are connectivity issues.

If necessary, visit Microsoft's Windows Message Center or Microsoft Update Catalog to download the appropriate file for the version of Windows you are currently using.

Repeating what was said above, if you are not experiencing any related problems, there is no need to download this update. Only if you are experiencing the Internet connectivity issues described here, follow these steps.
