Many people have installed and learned how to use Houseparty this month, and many of them want to know how to delete their Houseparty accounts.

The Coronavirus outbreak has left us all searching for the best video chat app indoors, but security concerns over hacked accounts (which the app's makers say were spread by a smear campaign) have many people running towards it.

Fortunately, it is very easy to delete a Houseparty account. I just created an account with the intention of deleting it, but once I found the strange place where Houseparty hides the account deletion feature, I was able to delete my account with a total of 8 taps.

First, let's see why Houseparty is trying to delete my account.

Houseparty is currently being accused of hacking Paypal, Netflix, and Spotify accounts; Houseparty says there is no evidence of hacking and that "all Houseparty accounts are secure.

If so, then people are mistakenly blaming Houseparty for common personal online security mistakes.

A spokesperson for Houseparty told Business Insider that usernames and passwords should not be reused.

However, Houseparty's makers are fighting to regain their reputation. The makers of the app are offering a $1 million bounty to the first person to present evidence that "the recent hacking rumors were spread by a commercial smear campaign to harm Houseparty."

There has also been an eerie phenomenon of uninvited guests appearing on Houseparty calls. If you are having such problems, turn on private mode.

Then there is also the problem of not being able to delete your Houseparty account via email.

1. tap the user icon in the upper left corner

2. tap the settings icon.

3. Tap Privacy.

4. tap Delete Account.

5. tap Yes

6. enter your password. I don't know why I have to do this, but apps and services love to make it difficult to delete or cancel.
