Oppo Reno Ace2は超極のSamsung Galaxy S20Ultrakillerのように見えます

Oppo's Reno Ace2 is another tricked-out Android phone trying to beat the Samsung Galaxy S20. And it may well have the potential to do so.

Thanks to specs posted on TENAA (via XDA Developers), China's electronics regulatory agency, we can see what specs the Reno Ace2 is running, and see images of the phone from various angles.

The attached images show that the Reno Ace2 uses a punch-hole display, ditches the distinctive "shark fin" pop-up camera mechanism, and is lighter with a total weight of 6.5 oz (down from 7 oz).

The display itself is an FHD 6.5-inch model, which is expected to feature at least a 90 Hz refresh rate like the original Reno Ace. On the back, there is a centrally located circular camera bump, similar to the OnePlus 7T and Huawei Mate 30 Pro. This camera array combines 48MP, 8MP, 2MP, and 2MP cameras, with a 16MP sensor used for the front camera.

Internally, the Reno Ace2 will likely use the ubiquitous Snapdragon 865 chip that is running nearly every high-end Android phone this year. While there is no specific mention of a Snapdragon CPU in the listing, its performance statistics and Reno's history of using the latest Snapdragon chips make it a fairly safe bet. This CPU spec could explain why the Reno Ace2 is listed as 5G capable in the listing. It will also come with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage.

The listed battery capacity of 1955mAh may seem small at first glance, but there is a reason for this: the Reno Ace series uses 65W fast charging, much more powerful than any fast charger on the market. To take full advantage of this, Oppo uses two battery cells in the Reno Ace, but for some reason only one is listed on the TENAA page.

Not surprisingly, there appear to be some similarities between the Reno Ace2 and the one rumored for the upcoming OnePlus 8 series, as they belong to the same parent company. This means that 65W charging and dual battery systems could be included in future OnePlus devices if Oppo does not insist on sharing them.

So how does this compare to Samsung's Galaxy S20 series, where the Reno Ace2 should, in theory, offer much better charging performance than the S20 Ultra, which is capable of 45W charging?

The camera is nearly identical to the S20 Plus, but only one 48MP main sensor on the Reno Ace2 beats the S20 Plus when it comes to resolution; the Reno's top specs of 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and Snapdragon 865 CPU are S20 Ultra, but for an additional fee you can get Samsung's 512GB version.

Oppo Vice President Brian Shen announced via social network Weibo that the company is indeed working on the Reno Ace2. However, the original was not sold outside of China, so expect a more global release for the new model.
