Apple Launches Coronavirus Screening App and Website: How to Use Them

If you're looking for information on coronaviruses, Apple has already added the ability to screen for COVID-19 using the iPhone's Siri assistant. And now Apple is expanding its coronavirus efforts with a webpage and app containing information and screening tools about the ongoing pandemic.

Today (March 27), Apple's COVID-19 website is highlighted with a screening tool that can be used by yourself or others to determine if medical attention is needed.

Questions on the screening tool cover topics such as symptoms you are experiencing, whether you have recently traveled abroad, and what contact you have had with others. They also provide information on pre-existing conditions and other risk factors such as asthma, diabetes, and compromised immunity.

The screening questions conclude with advice on whether to self-isolate or contact a health care provider. Along with that recommendation, there is advice on other steps, such as monitoring for symptoms and whether you need to be screened for coronavirus.

According to Apple, the information provided during screening is not shared with the company or the Centers for Disease Control.

In addition to the screening tool, Apple's COVID-19 website features an about page with up-to-date information about the pandemic. The site also includes information on social distancing, self-isolation, and cleaning tips. You can also find out how to get tested for coronavirus, what to expect from the test results, and what you can do while waiting for test results.

Apple's COVID-19 site can be accessed worldwide. U.S. users can also access the iOS App Store to download an app version of the site for iPhones and iPads. The mobile version includes the same features and information as the COVID-19 web page.
