Plex Live TV is Free for 3 Months: How to Try It Now

Plex Live TV is free for three months when you sign up for the streaming service now; Plex is best known for hosting personal media libraries, but also offers live TV on the air through a (usually) paid tier called Plex Pass Plex also offers live on-air TV through a (usually) fee-based tier called Plex Pass.

In a blog post commiserating with all those who are housebound, Plex said its live TV support is free for all users for the next three months, through June 30. The promotion allows users to watch on-air broadcasts for free with the supported Plex player app.

You will need an antenna to watch the on-air content, and the channels available will depend on where you live. However, if you're looking to cut the cord and are looking for live content like news, the Plex deal is pretty great.

There are a few things you should know before using Plex Live TV.

To start watching Plex Live TV for free, you must first set up a Plex Media Server on a compatible device. The download is free. If you have problems starting the server, please see the Plex How-To Guide and make sure you are running Plex Media Server 1.18.8 or later.

Also, if you do not have a Plex compatible tuner and HD antenna, you will need to pick them up. Any of the best TV antennas or the best cheap TV antennas will do.
