Huawei P40 Event Live Stream: How to Watch

We will soon see Huawei's answer to the Galaxy S20. The company will take the virtual stage Thursday (March 26) at a streaming event to unveil its next flagship phone, the Huawei P40.

Huawei phones are hard to come by in the U.S. thanks to a trade dispute between China and the Trump administration. But Huawei continues to have a presence in Europe and especially Asia, even though U.S. sanctions from that trade dispute have forced the company not to include Google's apps and Play Store in its recent phones.

Expect more details on how Huawei is handling life without Google and what hardware changes it is introducing with the P40 announcement during Thursday's live stream. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. EDT/6:00 p.m. PDT and there are many ways to watch. Huawei is streaming the P40 event on YouTube, and it can also be viewed on Facebook and Huawei UK's Twitter feed. Huawei offers the stream in six languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, and Russian.

Photography is likely to be a major focus at the P40 launch. The #VisionaryPhotography hashtag on the live stream's preview page will provide a clue. Cameras have also been the focus of most of the rumors surrounding the P40 series, which could include the P40 Pro and P40 Premium Edition in addition to the standard models.

The back of the P40 is expected to feature three to five rear lenses, depending on which model we are talking about. Huawei's main shooter for the phone is expected to be a 52MP sensor. This will be joined by a 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens that will support 10x optical zoom in all models. A time-of-flight sensor is also rumored for some models, and a second telephoto lens may be added to the P40 Premium Edition.

If these rumors come to fruition, the Galaxy S20 will face tough competition for the title of best camera phone. The Galaxy S20 Ultra in particular is focused on camera capabilities, featuring a 108MP main sensor and a telephoto lens with a 10x hybrid lossless zoom; the P40 Premium Edition will be able to take photos that are on par with Samsung's flagship phones.

Much attention could also be paid to the front of the Huawei P40 series. The phone is expected to get a quad-curved display that will not only be portrayed more stylishly, but will also be easier to grip when holding the phone.

Check back when the live stream begins on Thursday at 9 a.m. ET to see if all of these Huawei P40 rumors come to fruition.
