OnePlus8Pro vs OnePlus8: The leaked specification shows the main difference

Full specifications of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro have been leaked, and both models look to be worthy rivals to the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. However, some discrepancies between these numbers and previous rumors may be cause for concern.

In two tables posted on Twitter, Ishan Agarwal continued the OnePlus leaks, announcing these specs for the standard and premium versions of the upcoming OnePlus 8 series. You can see these tables in the tweet below. This is the second version of the table after Agarwal made some corrections to the first table he posted.

The first difference between this leak and previous leaks is the display size of the OnePlus 8 Pro. While some rumors have suggested a display width of 6.5 inches, which is still quite large, Agarwal now claims that it will be 6.78 inches instead, which is closer to the size of the massive Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

There are some differences in the cameras as well; Agarwal claims that the 8 Pro will have two 48MP cameras in addition to the 8MP and 5MP cameras, which is different from the 60MP, 16MP, 13MP combination we have seen so far. The second 48MP sensor will likely mean a better ultrawide camera, and while fewer megapixels is not ideal for a telephoto camera, it can still manage to take good pictures if it has a powerful optical zoom lens. [On the other hand, the standard OnePlus 8 appears to have a 48MP camera, a 16MP camera, and a 2MP camera; it is possible that the 2MP camera is actually a misnomer for the 12MP camera, but this has not changed between Agarwal's original and corrected tables.

Perhaps OnePlus decided to remove one sensor (probably the telephoto) and replace it with a depth sensor in order to better present photos taken with the remaining two cameras with more accurate photo effects such as bokeh.

The selfie cameras on both models are also different, and we have heard that they may be 32MP sensors instead of the 16MP that Agarwal is claiming here. It would still be larger than the 12MP sensor on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus, but would not compete with the 40MP sensor on the front of the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Another difference is the battery capacity; the OnePlus 8 Pro was previously rumored to have a 4,500mAh battery, so the 4,510mAh battery Agarwal mentions is not that much different. The regular OnePlus 8 was said to have only a 4,000 mAh battery, but this leak says it will be 4,300 mAh instead. That would make the battery larger than the standard Galaxy S20's and hopefully have a meaningful impact on total battery life.

The rest of the specs reaffirm what we have already heard. They include a 120Hz AMOLED display (QHD for the 8 Pro, FHD for the standard 8), 128GB and 256GB storage options, 8GB and 12GB RAM options, Snapdragon 865 CPU, and 30W wired and wireless fast charging.

Missing from these rumors is the OnePlus 8 Lite, a lower-priced, less expensive model that was thought to be launched along with the two models discussed here. It is possible that this model will be revealed at a later event or will not appear in certain markets, but it is worth noting that the OnePlus 8 Lite is not in this or other recent leaks.

A previous leak from Agarwal predicted a OnePlus launch event in mid-April. However, the coronavirus outbreak may delay either the reveal or the ship date of the OnePlus 8 device.
