Apple's iPad may be one to watch. Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab A 8.4, a new Android tablet with LTE connectivity, 10 hours of battery life, and a low price of $279.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.4, available for pre-order now, is a 4G LTE-enabled version of the existing Galaxy Tab A.

Samsung's new tablet features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and calls and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that can shoot FHD video. It also has a 5,000mAh battery, USB-C charging, and an estimated 10-hour battery life, comparable to last year's Galaxy Tab A.

Also like the latest Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 runs on an Exynos 7904 processor, offers 3GB of RAM, and comes with 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot. It also has a headphone jack and Dolby Atmos speakers.

In terms of design, the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 is also a much smaller replica of last year's non-LTE model. The back casing has a more uniform metal finish, but is only available in the distinctive "mocha" color.

All of Samsung's new Galaxy S20 smartphones ship with Android Pie, even though they all run Android 10. the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 also has a more premium Galaxy Tab S6-like keyboard, mouse, monitors, and other peripherals, but no DeX support.

Like its predecessor, the Tab A, it is clear that the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 exists in the budget tablet category. Still, the cheapest cellular-enabled iPad you can buy new costs $459, so Samsung has managed to undercut Apple's cellular tablets to a significant degree. If you want an affordable tablet with Internet access on the go, it's worth checking out.

The 2020 Galaxy Tab A 8.4 LTE is only available through Verizon Wireless, with AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, and T-Mobile models arriving later.
