iOS 13.4 can fix the super annoying iPhone bug from today

Since late last year, some iPhone owners have been complaining about an annoying hotspot bug in iOS 13 that caused their hotspot connections to disconnect repeatedly in a short period of time. Thankfully, this may finally be fixed.

The news comes from MacRumors, which has seen internal documents passed from Apple to authorized service providers stating that the company is aware of the issue and that technicians should expect inquiries from customers who have problems using the hotspot feature on their iPhone .

Apple further confirmed that the issue is not hardware related and advised that technicians should simply tell customers to turn the hotspot feature on and off if the connection is dropped.

iOS 13.4 is scheduled to be released today, March 24. However, according to MacRumors, there is no indication that the hotspot connection issue has been addressed in the upcoming release, so users may have to be a bit more patient until the company announces a solution.

Nevertheless, at least this shows that Apple is aware that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. Reports of headaches caused by hotspots began appearing last fall, a few weeks after the release of iOS 13. Apple's support community is littered with stories of devices refusing to connect to the iPhone, making multiple attempts, or disconnecting after a few minutes.

For some users, the problem occurs when using a MacBook and iPhone together. Some users also prefer to use their iPhones as in-car hotspots for infotainment systems and other devices, and have noted problems while driving. Of course, people rely on hotspots for Internet connectivity in all situations, but in these very pressing times, staying connected to the world is more important than ever.

For now, Apple's best advice seems to be to keep flipping the switch as often as necessary. This is hardly a solution and, in fact, may not even restart the connection each time you do it. However, the mere recommendation proves that this bug is on Apple's docket to be mitigated in a future iOS release.
