If this leak is true, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra's reign as emperor of the Android world is coming to an end. And never mind having to go through loopholes to sideload Google apps and services: the Huawei P40 Pro looks like the most impressive Android phone.

Images released by reputed leakster Ishan Agarwal show "the world's first quad-curved display." The details of what he is talking about are as follows:

Apparently, Huawei has managed to create an AMOLED panel that is curved on all sides, rather than only curved on the left and right, which is common in other smartphones. And not just the glass that covers it, but the actual panel as well.

And while the ugly pill-punched holes to house the two sensors for facial recognition remain, the effect is quite impressive. As you can see in this frontal view, the bezel is completely gone except for the ultra-thin chin:

The only thing that bothers me is that the corners are black. It looks like an old album that used sticky corners to hold the photos in place.

Most impressive are the pictures that can be taken with the new camera system, as is usual with Huawei's flagships. According to previous rumors, it is truly impressive and should probably leave Samsung's Galaxy S20 Ultra and any other Android phone in the dust, just as the Huawei P30 and P20 before it did.

The new P40 Pro appears to have five sensors behind the regular lens, developed with Leica. Rumors say it will have a 52MP sensor for the main camera, a 40MP for ultra-wide, a 10x optical telephoto, and a Time-of-Flight sensor like the LiDAR on the iPad Pro 2020 The fifth sensor is rumored to be a 3x zoom telephoto lens. The last sensor is meant to provide an intermediate step from 1x of the main sensor to 10x telephoto; the Ultra has the theoretical advantage of a motorized telephoto periscope system that allows continuous zoom.

It remains to be seen which has the advantage. At least in the market, Samsung seems to be losing right before it begins.
