Is the iphone12 not lagging behind? There is some good news in the new report

The iPhone 12 is still slated for a fall 2020 launch, but that situation could change soon.

According to Bloomberg, production of Apple's next flagship phone is not scheduled to begin until May, so there are currently no delays in the planned schedule. However, there could still be disruptions due to problems in various sections of Apple's Asian supply chain.

Foxconn, Apple's largest partner, has been operating at reduced capacity for most of March and is not expected to return to full capacity until the end of the month.

The report quotes an investor note written by Brad Gastwirth, chief technology strategist at Wedbush Securities: "We are beginning to wonder if Covid-19 will impact other supply regions even as China recovers. [China is improving, but the electronics industry supply chain may still suffer major disruptions. [Four plants in Malaysia that supply circuit boards and chips to Apple are now closed due to a two-week shutdown, and Samsung Display and LG Display in South Korea must also deal with the effects of the coronavirus outbreak.

The factories in Germany, Italy, and the UK that make Apple's power management chips, as well as Corning (maker of Gorilla Glass) in the US, and wireless chipmakers Broadcom, Skyworks Solutions, and Corvo.

According to reports, Bloomberg's sources claim that Apple's latest iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Mini models announced earlier this week will not be affected, as most were produced before the lockdown in China. However, the Magic Keyboard accessory for the iPad Pro will not be available until May.

Bloomberg reports that Apple was able to successfully test several pre-production iPhone models even during the worst of the disruption in China. However, Apple's flagship could still see a major derailment this fall if Apple does not send engineers to China to oversee the final production and testing process.

The iPhone 12 was expected to be a major step forward for Apple. It is the company's first 5G phone and will reportedly feature a quad rear camera array and a 120 Hz OLED display in four different models: 5.4", 6.1" (two models), and 6.7".

It will be difficult to keep the iPhone 12 schedule on track, as the U.S. has just imposed Level 4 restrictions on international travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
