Samsung's Galaxy S30 could have a 150MP camera, which would make the 108MP camera on the just-released Galaxy S20 Ultra look feeble in comparison.

In an article on Korean site Clien (via SamMobile), Twitter user Sleepy Kuma discovered that Samsung is working on a huge 1-inch 150MP camera sensor. The company was supposed to be working on an even larger 200MP camera, which apparently will not be ready for the next generation of phones.

This new camera is also a non-accelerated sensor, similar to the 108MP camera on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. This means that nine pixels can be combined into a single pixel if needed, which is helpful when prioritizing image brightness over fine detail when shooting at night.

The report mentions that Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo are also considering adopting this camera; since both Oppo and Vivo are part of parent company BBK Electronics, OnePlus, the most prominent group company in the US and UK, may also be interested in utilizing this sensor OnePlus, the most prominent group company in the U.S. and U.K., may also be interested in utilizing this sensor.

As might be expected from such a large and expensive sensor, Clien reports that the camera will only be available on the top-of-the-line "Flagship Pro" model.

Xiaomi apparently intends to include this sensor in mass-produced phones by the end of the year, and Oppo and Vivo aim to have the first models ready in the first quarter of 2021, combined with the Snapdragon 875 flagship CPU.

Hopefully, this means that Samsung will include this sensor in the Galaxy S30 (or whatever the successor to the Galaxy S20 is called).
