Huawei P40 Leak Reveals Camera to Challenge Samsung Galaxy S20Ultra

The entire Huawei P40 series has leaked from a single image; the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, like all recent flagships, came in a variety of attractive color variations, and the P40 series will look no different.

Our source for this information is reliable leaker Evan Blass, who posted the above image on his Twitter account. Not only does the phone in the image look convincing based on previous leaks we have heard, but it also shows a good selection of subdued bright colors, including what appears to be gold and pearlescent options.

Three to five lenses are visible on the back of the phone. Four of them are likely to be a combination of a 52MP main lens, a 40MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 10x optical telephoto/telephoto lens, as seen on the P30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro.

The fifth lens will be found on what is believed to be called the P40 Pro Premium. This will be a second 8MP telephoto lens that will function as a small 3x optical zoom, allowing the user to switch between the two for optimal images with minimal software trickery getting in the way of shooting.

A new teaser video is also available on Huawei's Weibo page. While it does not show any major differences from what has already been leaked, it strongly suggests that the P30 Pro's curved display will return; it is unclear if it will be featured on the basic P40 model or only on the Pro and Pro Premium variants.

Huawei will hold a virtual launch event for the P40 on March 26. While excellent photos and other hardware features will likely be showcased, the P40 will likely ship without Google Mobile Services or Google Play Store. This means that even in markets where the P40 will be sold (such as the UK), users looking for the usual Android experience will be in for a shock if they go unprepared.
