The OnePlus 8 Pro has kept its existence fairly well hidden, despite its impending release date. However, the Chinese company has failed to explain the real-life superhero.

A now-deleted Instagram post, spotted by Phone Arena and made by director Sam Jones, showed Robert Downey Jr. holding what is almost certainly the OnePlus 8 Pro in a set of OnePlus commercials was.

You can tell it's not last year's OnePlus 7 Pro because of the secondary camera module flanking the main central camera bump. This is expected to house the time-of-flight sensor and flash, and in the center will again be the main camera, ultra-wide angle camera, and telephoto camera combo.

The ToF sensor will be a new addition for OnePlus phones. By measuring depth more accurately, other cameras will be able to apply photographic effects like bokeh more effectively. It will also benefit AR applications that place virtual objects within the real environment recorded by the device's camera. This is the same feature that Apple is rumored to be planning for the iPhone 12.

The fact that Iron Man himself is involved in this leak is not that surprising. Downey has endorsed the OnePlus brand since 2019 and has shown off the OnePlus 7 Pro in several shots published on his Weibo page.

What we don't see from this unintentional leak are the display and internal specs. Expect a 120Hz refresh rate display with a punch-hole camera notch, Snapdragon 865 SoC, wireless charging, and other fun upgrades to OnePlus' OxygenOS Android 10 launcher, so these are as OnePlus 8 will be just as exciting as the Pro's new camera technology.
