iphone9 delayed indefinitely, multiple sources confirm

The situation within Apple does not look good at all. And the first casualty of the coronavirus mayhem in the volatile market is the iPhone 9, aka iPhone SE 2.

These are the words of YouTuber Jon Prosser, who claims to have confirmation of this and many other bad things happening within Apple right now. This comes directly from five different sources, many of whom are within the company, and all of whom have confirmed the same news.

Prosser's sources confirm and expand upon some of the rumors we have been hearing in recent weeks, which can be summarized in one of the purported direct quotes from Apple sources that Prosser quotes in his video report: "We are trying to outsmart the virus We're trying to outsmart it."

First and most importantly, according to Prosser and his purported sources inside Apple, the iPhone 9 has been shelved for the time being.

We had assumed that Apple's new lower-priced device would be delayed a month or two or in limited supply for some time. However, according to Prosser's sources, things have taken a turn for the worse. iPhone 9 has been delayed indefinitely, with June being cited as the likely launch date, but Apple is unable to promise anything.

Expanding on the "we're trying to outsmart the virus," sources within Apple say that iPhone 9 production is not the problem. They thought they had it worked out and were going to make it despite the delays.

But now, with the virus spreading like wildfire across the Northern Hemisphere, the real problem is the climate of fear, uncertainty, and doubt that is the biggest problem. According to Prosser's sources, the current situation is so precarious that Apple does not want to commit to anything at this time. Hence, the indefinite postponement.

Another reason for suspending the device launch indefinitely is that Apple actually does not want a potential mob of customers marching into its stores. This idea is actually consistent with another piece of information in the video, namely that Apple is canceling tutorial sessions in its stores around the world to avoid attracting a mob, which is the responsible thing to do.

Along with the indefinite postponement of the iPhone 9, the cancellation of the March 31 special launch event was also announced. Although it was not announced to the public, Apple had been preparing internally to celebrate this keynote, which had been planned by Phil Schiller and his team; according to Prosser's sources, this event is no more.

We had already reported a Bank of America report claiming that the iPhone 12 launch might be delayed to October, but Prosser's insider sources say it could be as late as November.

The reason for this delay is not a lack of components or production capacity, but Apple's ban on engineers traveling to China to oversee the final stages of the product development process. And without their input, the product could not effectively move forward.

However, the new iPad and other products are ready and may be announced in a press release around the end of March.
