While iOS 14 is months away from coming to iPhones and iPads (in the form of iPadOS), early versions of the OS have appeared and provide interesting information about what Apple is working on.

These rumors stem from a MacRumors article about new fitness apps coming to iOS 14, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14.

The Apple Watch will be used to track your progress, and a second larger device will serve as a display for the feedback and instructions the apps give you; according to images found by MacRumors, it will include a variety of different types of activities, and it will also include a new fitness app for the Apple Watch, appears to be completely free to use for the time being.

The second MacRumors article showed off two major changes coming to iMessage. The biggest and perhaps most annoying of these features is the ability to withdraw texts (as if you never sent them). They also have an eye on @mentions (familiar to Slack users) that will allow users to tag each other, which will likely lead to a new setting to get notifications in group texts only when you are @tagged.

A third MacRumors article reveals that Apple is adding a new feature to "PencilKit." The "PencilKit" is software that controls how the Apple Pencil and other styluses work with the iPad. This new feature will allow developers to add handwriting text recognition to their apps. Instead of a keyboard popping up, a blank space appears for writing with the stylus, which is converted to text when finished.

Currently, only Apple's Notes app has handwriting recognition, and first-party apps do not offer text conversion options. Since this new feature will work with any text input field, all of Apple's own apps will support it, and other apps will likely do so in the future.

In addition, MacRumors describes the "MagicFill" feature, which allows devices to draw a symbol that replaces set text. This is very useful for addresses, templates, and other pieces of information that you want to have readily accessible.

This is not the only thing we found in the iOS 14 code. We also found more evidence of Apple's over-ear headphones, and the iPad will soon allow easier use of a wireless mouse for navigation.

This is just a development version of the next iOS, so it is possible that these features will not make it to the final release; the Apple Pencil will make writing on the iPad easier, and the new fitness and messaging features look quite useful.
