The release date for OnePlus8 has just been leaked, and it's faster than expected

The OnePlus 8 will be an important phone for Android fans. The company is well known for offering users many exciting features at a price that is a bit cheaper than expected. We've been gearing up for the launch of this next OnePlus device in the coming months, but excitingly, the OnePlus 8 appears to be arriving sooner than expected.

According to TechRadar, the OnePlus 8 will launch in the second week of April. While this technically only applies to the launch in India, OnePlus has historically held its launches around the same time, so expect the U.S. and U.K. to hold their respective events as well.

Both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro were announced in May 2019, so there will not be a year between the two launches.

The OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro then came out in September 2019. We assume that OnePlus will continue the trend of making these "T" upgrades to their phones, but perhaps this will be moved up a month to August to keep the period between launches the same.

According to previous rumors and leaks, the OnePlus 8 will use the Snapdragon 865 processor and at least 8GB RAM; building on the OnePlus 7 Pro's 90Hz display, OnePlus is working on a 120Hz comparable to Samsung's Galaxy S20 series display, and has stated that it is working on a display that will be comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S20 series.

The new display will feature a punch-hole front camera rather than a notch or pop-up mechanism like the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro respectively. Wireless charging may also appear for the first time on a OnePlus device, along with an upgraded fast charging system.

After launching a "Pro" version of the OnePlus 7 last year, the OnePlus 8 may also feature a "Lite" version to complement it. This cut-down version of the new device will allow OnePlus to compete in the growing field of mid-range smartphones by luxury companies. Expect it to compete with the rumored iPhone 9 and Google's Pixel 4a, which is expected to be the successor to the Pixel 3a.
