Apple glasses have neat features that psvr should steal

Sony's PSVR system is one of the most familiar VR headsets, but the potential features of these new Apple Glasses may give Sony a glimpse of its true form.

The patent, filed by Apple (via 91mobiles) and published by the USPTO on February 27, shows potential future features of the long-rumored Apple Glasses AR system.

As detailed in the text of the patent, the headset contains the necessary electronics to sense where the right and left eye models in the device are located. It can then be compared to the position of the user's nose and adjusted accordingly to ensure that the user has a comfortable and optimal virtual reality experience.

The degree of automation available is fully explored throughout this document. They range from manual adjustment by the user to the complete self-fitting system described above, which can even read the distance between the wearer's pupils to fine-tune the position.

The sensors themselves can also be mounted on flexible circuitry. This means that components that need to look into the eyes or onto the nose would not be too heavy or uncomfortable, despite their advanced functionality.

The patent may not necessarily become an actual product, and even if it does, it may take several years. The technology described in the patent sounds plausible, but it may take time to produce something of sufficient quality for Apple, which is notoriously fussy.

But if you're a PS4 owner looking to improve your gaming experience, the PSVR headset does a great job without having to steal Apple's new patent. It's affordable, easy to set up, has plenty of compatible VR-specific games, and is often bundled as an ideal VR starter kit.
