Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Release Date, Cast and Everything We Know

Because "Star Trek: Picard" Season 2 boldly moves forward for new adventures and mysteries.

CBS All Access ordered "Star Trek: Picard" Season 2 before the first season premiered on January 23. That means 10 more episodes of Captain/Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his ragtag band of astronauts will be added.

Season 1 of "Star Trek: Picard" has explored the mysteries surrounding Picard's former android crewmates, Data's twin daughters, Darzi and Sozi. There is also a conspiracy involving the Romulans and possibly the Federation, and the involvement of the Borg.

The events of the remaining five episodes of season one, especially the March 26 finale, will determine what happens in "Star Trek: Picard" season two. Here is everything we know about the second season, including the cast and plot.

"Star Trek: Picard" Season 2's release date on CBS All Access has not yet been set.

If "Star Trek: Picard" Season 2 follows the schedule of the first season, filming could begin this spring, in April or May, and end in September. Season 2 could then premiere in January 2021.

And there is really good news for Picard fans: sources told The Hollywood Reporter that CBS All Access has also placed an early order for "Star Trek: Picard" Season 3 and plans to shoot it around the same time as Season 2. If that is the case, the time to wait for Season 3 will be around the same time as Season 2. If so, the wait for Season 3 may be even shorter!

Since Picard himself is essential to "Star Trek: Picard," Patrick Stewart is sure to return as JL. If their characters survive and are not killed off, the key cast members who would return include:

Star Trek: Picard Season 1 includes Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh, and other past There are cameo appearances from the Trek series. Data, played by Brent Spiner, also appears in a vision/flashback. And at one point, Jonathan Frakes (played by William Riker) and Marina Sirtis (played by Deanna Troy) appear as Next Generation characters in Star Trek: Picard.

It is possible that one of them will reappear in "Star Trek: Picard" Season 2. However, of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Whoopi Goldberg is the one who is certain to make a cameo appearance next year. Stewart invited Goldberg to reprise her role as Guinan when she visited "The View":

No, there is no trailer for "Star Trek: Picard" Season 2 yet; stay tuned for a possible teaser after the season 1 finale on March 26.

It is also very likely that fans will see another teaser or trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2020.

Season 1 is still on the air, and whatever happens in the remaining five episodes will determine where the "Star Trek: Picard" season 2 storyline goes.

So far, the show has focused primarily on the ban on artificial life forms, the Federation's move away from policing parts of the galaxy, and issues surrounding the current state of the Romulan species. In particular, season one has followed the mysteries surrounding the twins Darzi (now deceased) and Sozi, who were created from Data's remains. Picard will be working outside the jurisdiction of the Federation in order to uncover the truth.

Our guess is that Picard continues to work behind the scenes, not as a respected admiral. He and his ragtag band of rag-tag crew on the La Seirena will venture further into the dark recesses of the galaxy. The mysteries concerning Daj and Soji, and the larger issues surrounding the synthesizer, will not be fully resolved. Instead, we believe that the finale will drop a huge piece of the puzzle and reveal that it is far larger than Picard ever imagined. [The Fenris Rangers' involvement with Seven, the Romulan warrior nuns, the Kowat Milat, the hyper-commercialism of the Free Cloud, the underworld of the Borg parts, etc.
