AirPods News:ド399 "AirPods X" Revealed by List of Target Stores

Apple is rumored to be holding a major event on March 31, where the highly anticipated iPhone SE 2 will likely be announced. However, a large number of other Apple products showed up in Target's inventory system, suggesting that a larger announcement is imminent.

As reported by 9to5Mac, a key highlight is what is now being called the "AirPods (X generation)," which have a list price of $399. This would be $150 more than the current AirPods Pro, meaning that this can could be Apple's rumored high-end over-ear headphones.

The $399 price would pit the new AirPods X headphones against the Bose 700, the best noise-canceling headphones we have tested. We last heard about the headphones in a January report based on comments from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

It is important to keep in mind that these names in Target's system are likely placeholders and will change. So what other X products are on the horizon?

Interestingly, the Apple TV Gen X is also listed at $180. Rumor has it that Apple is preparing a new Apple TV to replace the current Apple TV 4K model based on the tvOS 13.4 beta version; faster performance from the A12 Bionic chip is expected, but not much else is known at this time.

Next up is the potentially upgraded iPod Touch X Generation, which costs a hefty $399. as MacRumors notes, the iPod Touch was last upgraded in May 2019 and currently starts at $199. Therefore, it is not certain whether Apple will aim to upmarket with the next generation.

The $399 iPod Touch is a curious move, and the iPhone SE 2 is expected to be the same price. Furthermore, the best budget phones like the Google Pixel 3a start at the same price.

Finally, the Target listing revealed a new Apple Watch band, but we don't expect the new Apple Watch 6 to launch until the fall along with the iPhone 12. Apple could simply be dropping some new accessories for its best smartwatch.

We already learned this week that Apple's AirTags trackers appear to be on the way, so they could also debut at Apple's March 31 event as well. Stay tuned for more details and leaked information.
