Your geek dream AirPods case looks like a little game boy

Having recently accidentally brought home a friend's AirPods, I realized that I needed an AirPods case that would allow me to more easily identify them. Fortunately, I finally found one worth buying.

The elago AW5 AirPods case has "Classic Game Player Design" in the name to avoid lawsuits, is cute, and costs only $14. It has a built-in carabiner clip so it can be easily attached to a bag, jacket, or other loop, and it supports Qi-based wireless charging.

Elago makes this retro case in two versions, classic light gray and black. Virtually perfect, but there is one problem that hinders ordering: even though Elago makes many AirPods Pro cases in other colors, there is no game-boy version for the AirPods Pro. It looks like I'll have to hold out for that option.

I have long wondered why Apple only allows one AirPods case customization. Like a monogrammed bath towel.

If only for the case, not the headphones, multiple color options would make it easier to track the AirPods as they become more ubiquitous.

In other AirPods news, the AirPods Pro Lite earphones are rumored to be available in the summer. These earbuds are expected to be a feature stripped down version of the regular Pros and not as simple as the regular "Pods."
