Viacom CBS builds on Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Pluto TV and CBS All Access

ViacomCBS has announced its next streaming service. In a press release earlier today (February 20), prior to the company's earnings announcement, we learned that this service will be built on CBS All Access.

ViacomCBS aims to draw attention to this new service, which it calls "House of Brands" (which is not the name of the service), with its existing content library. This will include programming from Viacom's cable channels such as BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, etc.

There will also be more Star Trek programming, such as "Star Trek: Picard Season 2."

It has not yet been announced how much live content the streaming service will feature, but this untitled CBS service will definitely feature live news and sports; CBS All Access already offers both (as CBSN and CBS as Sports HQ), this new package would offer more to grab people's attention.

Pluto, an existing ad-supported free streaming platform that delivers repackaged content from CNN, MTV, The Movie Channel, Spike TV, and others, will likely play a role in the new unnamed service, but again details were sparse.

If you're frustrated by the lack of details, so are we. In a press release, ViacomCBS mentions the service as follows:

"The new broad-based pay service "House of Brands" adds to our scaled assets in film and television, including world-renowned brands, CBS All Access and reaffirms and expands the value of entertainment, news and sports through on-demand and live experiences for viewers around the world.

This all remains up in the air. Concerned about the price of the new service? So are we: CBS currently has three fee structures:

It's not hard to imagine that the new service will be more expensive, since it will be built on top of CBS All Access. However, NBCU's Peacock starts at $5 per month, with a $10 ad-free option.

We first heard rumors about this service earlier this month.
