The release date of the iPhone SE2 was tipped on 4/3

It was a big day for Apple product rumors, with separate reports pointing to March release dates for both the iPhone SE 2 and iPad Pro 2020. And now a third report claims to know exactly when we will see Apple's new best inexpensive phone.

iPhone-Ticker.de, a German blog, says that the iPhone 9 - aka the iPhone SE 2 - will make an appearance at Apple's March 31 product event. The rumor (at least if Google Translate is to be trusted) states that it originates "directly from Apple's environment" and that sales of the compact iPhone will begin on April 3.

We have no idea how reliable iPhone-Ticker.de is as a source of Apple rumors. However, the idea of a March event is not entirely outlandish; Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has a higher opinion of such matters and has indicated that the successor to the iPhone SE will appear in March.

A report today (February 17) suggested that the iPhone SE 2 is still slated for a March debut, despite the coronavirus outbreak wreaking havoc on technology production.

The next iPhone SE, whether called the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9, is expected to feature the 4.7-inch screen of the iPhone 8, but with components found in the iPhone 11 lineup, including the A13 Bionic processor

The Apple iPhone 11 is expected to be the first iPhone to feature a 4.7-inch screen.

Apple has held March events in the past, most recently last year, and the 2019 Showtime event will see the launch of Apple News Plus, Apple Arcade, Apple TV Plus, Apple Card, and other new Many of the services were announced; a new iPad was introduced at the March 2018 event, while the original iPhone SE was first unveiled on March 21, 2016.

The iPhone-Ticker.de report only mentions the iPhone SE successor, but Apple is reportedly preparing other products for a spring release. There are also reports that production has begun on a new iPad Pro with a triple camera. If that tablet is to appear, Apple could announce it at its March event as well.

Kuo's predictions for Apple's first-half product announcements include new tracking devices, wireless charging pads, over-ear headphones, and refreshed laptops. Minor updates to laptops are typically announced by the company through press releases, but it is possible that one of these products will appear at an upcoming product event.
