Season 5 of "Outlander" will also include several new cast members. The casting of Paul Gorman as Josiah and Kezie Beardsley (twins) and Bronwyn James as Fanny Beardsley was announced.

And a furry new cast member joins:

"Outlander" Season 5 follows the ending of Season 4, in which Jamie is put in a tight spot by Governor Tryon, who orders him to form a militia to fight the rebelling Regulators. And Jamie's first order. To find and kill his best friend and godfather, Murtaugh.

Season 5 is based on Diana Gabaldon's novel "Cross of Fire," from which we can infer plot details. The War of the Regulations, an actual historical battle, confronts the characters. Claire and Brianna know that the struggle between the colonists and British officials is sowing the seeds of American independence.

As Sam Heughan told Parade, Jamie "made a deal with the British Redcoats. He has to secure this land and make it safe for them. For Jamie, that's quite a challenge."

While Jamie struggles to keep his family safe, Claire continues to expand her clinic. Jamie builds her a surgical home.

"Claire makes her own medicine," Caitriona Balfe told Entertainment Weekly.

"It was really interesting to find a way for her to do the kind of surgery that was commonplace in the 1960s."

As for the show's other main couple, Bree and Roger, they were eventually reunited, but there are still bumps in the road ahead. They get married in a lovely wedding (teased in a set photo. However, Roger is struggling to provide for his family, and Bree is still haunted by the rape she experienced at the hands of Steven Bonnet.

"It's going to be much harder [than before the assault] to get close and physically intimate with Roger," Sophie Skelton told EW.

As showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told Parade, "Everything seemed to be happy in the last beat [of season 4], but this is the Fraser clan. Diana Gabaldon doesn't know the words 'happily ever after.'"

There are numerous photos from "Outlander" Season 5, including production stills and behind-the-scenes images from the set.
