Galaxy Z Flip gets Tom Brown edition based on this strange ad

With the surprise appearance of the Galaxy Z Flip in a TV commercial for the 2020 Academy Awards, one would have thought that this would be the last we would hear about Samsung's foldable phone before its unveiling at the Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow (February 11). But not so.

A new ad for the Galaxy Z Flip has appeared, but it comes from a less official source. It was posted on Twitter by @h0x0d, who usually specializes in Windows news and leaks, but also has news about Samsung's foldable phone.

The leaked ad touts the Thom Browne version of the Galaxy Z Flip. And the 2:20 minute clip... There's something there.

Whereas the official Galaxy Z Flip ad from Samsung features light music, a smiling young man, and a purple flash from the phone's body, the leaked ad strikes a decidedly different tone.

Here, a suited Sad Sack wades through the gray cacophony of a dystopian workplace. Also featured is a waterfall that the protagonist bravely walks through once armed with a Z Flip, but it is unclear if this will be one of the new phone's features.

What is clear is that the Galaxy Z Flip Thom Browne edition will include more than just a phone, based on the still image at the end of the ad. Headphones (presumably the Galaxy Buds Plus that Samsung will release with the Z Flip) and a smartwatch that can only be the Galaxy Watch Active 2 are also shown. These items also have the Thom Browne brand logo.

No price is listed for the Galaxy Z Flip Thom Browne edition. However, given what comes with this phone, one would imagine it will be considerably higher than the rumored $1,400 or so price linked to the Z Flip.

It is also unclear where the Thom Browne version of the Galaxy Z Flip will be sold. The fine print on the ad says "available only in certain countries," suggesting that this menswear brand and Samsung will be selective about where this version of the phone appears.

The Galaxy Unpacked event is less than 24 hours away. There, the actual Z Flip will finally make its appearance and reveal what specs it actually boasts, as Galaxy Unpacked's live stream and Tom's Guide's coverage of the event are clearly more revealing than this Thom Browne ad I urge you to take a look.
