Leaked information about smartphones tends to fly fast and furious just prior to the launch of a new product. And sometimes the leaks come directly from the company manufacturing the new phone.

That seems to have happened with the Galaxy S20 and Samsung. The electronics giant's German website temporarily posted an image of the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy S20 on a page showcasing cases designed for the new smartphone; Android Police spotted Samsung's antics and took a screenshot.

The image doesn't tell us anything we haven't already heard about Samsung's next flagship phone, but it's always nice to get confirmation that the rumors circulating about the device are pretty much spot on. The image shows the front and back of the S20 inside a case, with a notch on the back for a rectangular camera array with three rear lenses stacked vertically. Since this case is for the S20, we do not see the time-of-flight sensor that will be included in the S20 Plus and S20 Ultra models to be announced next week.

As for the front of the phone, there is a circular notch in the center of the display for the front camera, a shift from the Galaxy S10, which had a notch on the right side. This is a change we expected, not only because of how Samsung handled the Galaxy Note 10, but also because previous leaked images suggested it.

The prematurely posted S20 case images match the smartphone cases we received, which claim to be designed for Samsung's new phone. These cases also included a cutout for a rectangular camera array on the back of the phone.

You would think that Samsung would be more careful with information about the Galaxy S20. But for Samsung, revealing its hand early on has become something of a tradition. Before the Galaxy Note 10 launch last year, leaked marketing materials told us everything we needed to know about the new phablet's specs. Samsung's support page told us about the Galaxy Note 10 Lite before Samsung unveiled its new phone last month. And Samsung's own OS fills in some details about what to expect from the Galaxy S20.

Samsung will hold an Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 11, and that's when we'll find out if there are any Galaxy S20 surprises left.
