Samsung's Windows laptop may finally be on its way. The company will begin accepting pre-orders for its highly anticipated Galaxy Book S today. Samsung claims this ultra-portable (starting at $999) will last up to 23 hours on a single charge, and we can't wait to test it against the best laptops in our lab.

First announced at last summer's Unpacked 2019 event, the Galaxy Book S runs on a Snapdragon 8cx processor and a 7-nanometer chip that is claimed to enable 40% better CPU performance and 80% better graphics performance. All of this is in comparison to the Galaxy Book 2, but the Book S will not be as fast as Intel's faster U-series chips.

Aside from these neat claims, the biggest difference between this laptop and its predecessor is the slimmer design with thinner bezels surrounding the 13.3" full HD touchscreen.

The Galaxy Book S comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of local SSD storage, with Gigabit LTE support. It weighs only 2.1 pounds, is 0.5 inches thin, and will be available in two colors: earthy gold and mercury gray.

Dual USB-C ports are split on both sides of the Galaxy Book S, but whether they are Thunderbolt 3 or not remains to be seen; thanks to Dolby Atmos and AKG-branded audio, this laptop should sound good, too.

Pre-orders placed on Samsung.com between now and February 12 (to be released today, but not yet at the time of publication) will receive a $100 credit to be used on the company's PCs, tablets, and accessories.
