Legend Tokens are the only free currency in Apex Legends and allow players to unlock Legends and store exclusive cosmetics. Legend Tokens are the red memory chip-like symbol in the upper right corner, not to be confused with the blue Crafting Materials or yellow Apex Coins.

The new Legends are where the bulk of the tokens are most effectively used, and every unlockable character requires 12,000 Legend Tokens (or 750 Apex Coins).

When starting Apex Legends, six characters become playable and there are currently six more unlockable characters. New Legends are usually added every season (lasting about three months), giving players ample stocking time. If you play correctly, you should get one legend by level 23 or so, and another every 20 levels.

Each kill equals 50 XP, which makes a big difference early on, but becomes more painstaking as you progress. Survival is a big part of leveling up. Yes, you want to go in guns blazing, but a more cautious approach yields better results. After all, this is a battle royale game, and your numbers will quickly skyrocket as you make it to the last few or finish first.

On top of that, Apex offers players a 5% XP bonus for each friend they play with. If you put together a full squad, you get a 10% bonus every round.
