iPhone12Pro will be completely notch-free with the new video

Where there are iPhone rumors, concept drawings of Apple's next phone soon follow. And that is what is happening with the iPhone 12.

Hopefully this iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max concept published by ConceptiPhone on YouTube will eventually become the real thing.

This does not appear to be a rendering based on a leak from Apple's supply chain. Rather, the concept video, first spotted by BGR, appears to be using recent iPhone 12 rumors for design inspiration.

Recent reports that Apple will add a navy blue color option to the fall iPhone release? There it is; the widely circulated rumor that the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will add a time-of-flight lens to the rear camera array? There's that too. The video even shows four of the iPhone 12 models rumored to arrive this fall, with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.

What caught our eye in the ConceptiPhone video, however, is a design touch based on a more iffy rumor: the iPhone 12 models lack a notch, which is due to the rumored redesign of the components that make up Apple's Face ID feature.

Apple watchers seem to agree that the company will eventually do away with the notch that adorns the iPhone, but they disagree on the timing. The most common rumor is that 2021 is the end of the notch, but some reports suggest that Apple may release a notch-free iPhone this year. (In fact, another concept drawing from last September, claiming to be based on an Apple prototype, raised this possibility.) Still, conventional wisdom seems to suggest that this year's iPhone will look very similar to the iPhones Apple has rolled out over the past few years, including the notch.

We like this concept design not only because it will provide plenty of uninterrupted screen space, but also because it will be a different look for the iPhone after several years of similar devices. It will help to add a spark to Apple's design at a time when the iPhone is adding new features like 5G connectivity.

In the ConceptsiPhone video, one feature that will not be included in the iPhone 12 is the lack of ports. The video shows an iPhone with a blank space where a Lightning port would be, but that will not happen this year, even if the European Union wanted it to.

The concept video shows off the iPhone 12 with sharp edges reminiscent of the iPhone 4. It also confirms several other widely circulated iPhone 12 rumors, including in-screen touch ID, an A14 Bionic chip, and a display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Whether these wish-list features will make it into the iPhone 12 or be relegated to concept video fodder will not be known until the fall. But what may or may not make the final cut for the iPhone this fall, expect more rumors between now and then.
