The Motorola1,500Motorola Razr has already been back-ordered: here's when you can get your stuff

Turns out Motorola wasn't kidding when it said the demand for its Razr foldable phone was high.

Pre-orders for the 2020 Motorola Razr opened yesterday (January 26). And if you place your order now, about 36 hours after Motorola and its retail partners began accepting orders for the $1,500 foldable device, you won't be able to pick up your Razr until about two weeks after it arrives on retail shelves.

Verizon, the exclusive wireless carrier for the Motorola Razr, has set a ship date of February 18 for orders placed today; the Razr will be available on February 6.

If you buy at Walmart, the wait will not be as long. Still, it will be a few days after the Motorola Razr hits store shelves.

Pre-orders for the Motorola Razr were supposed to begin in late December, but Motorola has put pre-orders on hold, citing the need to figure out how to handle the unexpected interest in flip phones with foldable screens. The pre-order delay was short-lived, about a month, but interest in the phone does not appear to have waned in the slightest.

Verizon continues to offer big savings on the Razr's $1,500 price tag if you are switching carriers and have a phone to trade in. If you switch, you can get a $200 prepaid MasterCard when you transfer your phone number to Verizon. New customers can also get up to a $500 billing credit when they trade in an eligible device. Eligible trade-ins include iPhone 8 or later, Galaxy S9 or later, Galaxy Note 9 or later, Pixel 3 or later, LG G8 ThinQ or V50 ThinQ. Earlier models will be subject to a $350 trade-in value.
