If you're waiting for the Facebook app on your Android phone to make Dark Mode available, you may not have much longer.

Android Police reported Wednesday (January 22) that it had heard from "several" readers who had seen Facebook Dark Mode pop up on their Android phones.

Facebook has apparently been testing Dark Mode for Android for several months. The earliest reports of its emergence began last summer, shortly after Dark Mode became widely available in the standalone Facebook Messenger Android app. And the latest WhatsApp Android beta version includes dark mode.

The advantage of dark mode is that it reduces battery drain and eye fatigue in low light conditions. This feature has been a big hit on desktops, with macOS, Windows 10, iOS, Google Chrome, and Android introducing it in recent years.

Of course, there is no telling when Facebook's Android and iOS apps will fully enable dark mode for all users. But when it does, many will be pleased.
