iPhone12 will be ready for both 5G versions this fall (report)

There was an important question surrounding the iPhone 12's alleged 5G capabilities: which version of the new wireless standard will Apple adopt? According to a new statement from Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most reputable Apple analysts, it's actually both.

Ming-Chi Kuo, famous for accurately predicting Apple's next move, declared in a new report for investors (seen by MacRumors) that the iPhone 12 will be 5G compatible. He further noted that there will be two different 5G versions of each model, which will work with whatever 5G is in use in the particular country where it will be sold.

For those who don't know why there are two different 5G standards, the basics are that 5G signals have two different frequency bands, which contain individual "bands" that carry data. 5G signals have two different frequency bands, which contain individual "bands" that carry data Sub-6GHz. Sub-6GHz shares some bandwidth with older standards such as 4G, and mmWave includes much higher frequency bands that have not previously been used for mobile communications.

Different countries and the carriers within them use these technologies in different ways. Sub-6 GHz is easier to make work because of the frequency crossover with the previous generation, while millimeter wave has a higher bandwidth due to its higher frequency and the potential for faster data transfer.

According to Kuo, mm-Wave-enabled iPhone 12s will be available in the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the UK, and will launch in September 2020, which is when the next iPhone is expected to be revealed.

However, there is more to the iPhone 12 than 5G support. iPhone 12 rumor hub page is constantly updated with news and rumors regarding pricing, availability, and specs of the next iPhone.
