Forget the Galaxy Fold2: Samsung's new foldable clamshell is called the Galaxy Z Flip

After all, Samsung's product name to compete with Motorola's Razr clamshell is neither Galaxy Fold 2 nor Galaxy Bloom.

Instead of using the cool Galaxy Bloom as a product name, Samsung has reportedly chosen another boring letter. It was a wasted opportunity because, unlike the actual name, its brand is cool.

Ice Universe, Samsung's master leakster, announced in a tweet that "Bloom" was just the phone's internal codename and that the phone would be called the Samsung Galaxy Z ****. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold? Samsung Galaxy Z Boom?Samsung Galaxy Z Razr?"

No, **** may stand for "yawn" or "boredom. Because the actual name is Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, as Ice Universe revealed in another tweet. Seriously, Samsung. C'mon. Do we need one more letter in the alphanumeric soup of your model?

The Galazy Z Flip will likely be unveiled along with the Galaxy S20 at Samsung's Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 11.

Not much is known about the Galaxy Z Flip's specs, but previous rumors suggest it will feature a 6.7-inch ultra-thin glass (UTG) display that folds horizontally.

See the Galaxy Fold 2/Galaxy Z Flip hub for more information and leaks as the launch approaches.
