The new year means new trade-in values for your old iPhone at Apple. And with Apple adjusting trade-in values for older hardware, iPhone trade-in values may not be as promising as they were a week ago.

MacRumors first noticed the new trade-in value estimates for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches on Apple's Trade-In Program website. for iPhones, trade-in values have dropped from $20 for older iPhones to $100 The iPhone XS Max has seen the steepest drop, with Apple now offering trade-ins of up to $500 for the 2018 model.

Apple has been encouraging customers in recent years to return old or outdated hardware to the company. This trade-in credit can be applied to their next Apple product purchase or received as an Apple gift card that can be used at any time.

The new trade-in value will also affect how much you can lower the cost of purchasing a new iPhone when you return your old iPhone to Apple. Currently, trade-ins reduce the price of the iPhone 11 from $699 to $449 and the iPhone 11 Pro from $999 to $679.
