Oscar nominees such as "One Night in Miami," "Judas and the Black Messiah," and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," all of which featured large black casts and were produced by black filmmakers, were excluded from the Best Picture category. In addition, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes for the Golden Globe Awards, has faced further controversy after a report in the Los Angeles Times revealed that the association has no black members.

It will be interesting to see if the moderators will diss the HFPA (which hired them). Polar and Faye are never shy about unleashing cutting humor. Also, several of the presenters and winners may acknowledge the lack of diversity in this year's awards.

This year, Jane Fonda won the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which honors someone who has made a significant mark on the film industry.

Norman Lear will receive the Carol Burnett Award, given to a person who has made a significant and lasting contribution to television, both on and off the screen.
