The most obvious names are D'Angelo's frequent collaborators: Questlove and Raphael Saadiq. However, since "Friends" is plural, an entire group (socially distant, of course) could appear. Where are Anthony Hamilton, Maxwell, and Musiq Soulchild? There may even be Angie Stone, DiAngelo's ex-girlfriend. And Lauryn Hill could be in the cast.

For those unfamiliar with Verzuz, these shows are informal competitions between artists. Each superstar plays one hit song, followed by another, and then they exchange volleys like a tennis match. And it is the public (who express their opinions in the comments and on social media) who decides who wins.

Verzuz is so popular that Swizz Beatz (co-creator of the event) announced that the last battle (Gucci Mane vs. Jeezy) broke the "all-time live stream audience record" with 9.1 million streamers watching. This is a huge multiple of the most popular verses before it, which topped out at an estimated 1.2 million viewers for Brandi vs. Monica.

Competitors chatted during the festivities, and so far things have been both friendly and competitive, making the evening's spectating fun.
