Samsung Galaxy a72 leak just revealed a secret weapon to fight Google Pixel 5a

If the Google Pixel 5a rumors don't excite you, there is good news about the Samsung Galaxy A72.

A series of tweets from TechTalkTV have revealed detailed specs for Samsung's most feature-rich mid-range smartphone. The expected price is about $600, but it will offer the same telephoto zoom feature as the Galaxy S21 and other fancy features.

Specifically, the Galaxy A72 will reportedly feature an 8MP telephoto camera capable of 3x lossless zoom and up to 30x "space zoom". This is the same magnification found on the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus, but the S21 uses a much larger 64MP sensor for this purpose; the A72's predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G, did not have a telephoto camera, This feature is a particularly noteworthy upgrade.

Other sensors on the back of the A72 are said to include a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP selfie camera in Samsung's trademark center punch hole notch. The camera will also have a night mode and a variety of filters for the main and ultra-wide cameras, in case you want to give your friends a funny cartoon look.

In total, there are four rear sensors and one front sensor. Compared to the one front and one back sensor that Google included in the Pixel 4a, this is a pretty impressive array of cameras; the Pixel 5a can use two cameras (a main sensor and an ultra-wide sensor pair) like the Google Pixel 4a 5G had. and will no doubt use Google's excellent photo processing software. However, Google would still be at a hardware disadvantage compared to Samsung's phones.

Other leaked specs of the Galaxy A72 look good. The display is an FHD AMOLED model with a 90 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5. The A72 will likely feature a Snapdragon 720G chipset, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of storage, and up to 1 TB of microSD storage support.

It also has a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a headphone jack, and IP67 water and dust protection, which, given the A71's price, is quite expensive for a phone costing about $600.

The Galaxy A series is not a premium product like the Galaxy S or Galaxy Note series, but it is still an excellent mid-range option. Looking at these specs, the Galaxy A72 could be a formidable competitor to phones like the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the upcoming Pixel 5a.

We will see the Galaxy A72 soon. These leaked specs were released at the same time that Samsung announced that it would unveil the product on March 17. Samsung has not said specifically what it plans to announce at this Unpacked event, but early indications suggest an update to the mid-range phone.
