OnePlus9 Leak reveals how it blows away Samsung Galaxy S21

Something was missing from the recent announcements of both Apple's iPhone 12 and Samsung's Galaxy S21. That is the decision by OnePlus not to follow through with the release of the upcoming OnePlus 9.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the new phone will come bundled with a charger ahead of the phone's release later this month. Lau posted a comment on the OnePlus forums answering questions from users.

"Don't worry," Lau told customers concerned about the lack of chargers in other recent flagships. 'The charger is in the box.'

Lau did not elaborate further on what chargers are available; it is widely assumed that the OnePlus 9 will support the OnePlus 8T's 65W charging, so it is assumed that the charger in question will support that fast charging speed.

This behavior and messaging is very different from Apple's and Samsung's of late. Both companies claim that leaving chargers out of the box reduces environmental waste. It also reduces costs for handset manufacturers, assuming that consumers have enough of their old chargers on hand or are willing to pay for new accessories.

Still, it is not surprising that OnePlus is going its own way, given that it has its own charging technology; there are not many chargers on the market that can match OnePlus' 65W speed, so the company has chargers supplied by phone manufacturers that users to take advantage of this feature, it appears.

The OnePlus 9 will be available in the coming weeks and may include multiple models. (The Pro and Lite versions are expected to accompany the standard model.) OnePlus has set a March 23 launch date and simultaneously announced a new Hasselblad partnership. Under this collaboration, the OnePlus 9 is poised to offer a camera array that can compete with even the best Android phones when the new line launches.

There is still much we don't know about OnePlus' new flagship model, but all will be known by the end of the month.
