Reviews of Raya and the Last Dragon have been almost entirely favorable. Here are some of the comments from film critics:

Beatrice Loayza, The New York Times: "Raya and her companions travel across multiple lands to collect scattered pieces of stone, giving their creators an excuse to immerse themselves in vast worldbuilding.

Dirk Libby, Cinema Blend: "There have been few blockbuster movies that have been enjoyable for nearly 12 months, but 'Raya' manages to be several types of feature films at once. It's an animated adventure for the whole family. It's also a touching and emotional drama. And, perhaps most surprisingly, it is an absolutely kick-ass martial arts film.

Allison Wilmore, Vulture "Raya and the Last Dragon" is a reminder of what Disney has always excelled at at its highest levels, marveling at character design, world-building, and tactful choices.

Sandy Angulo Chen, Common Sense Media: dangerous and heartbreaking scenes are balanced by much lightness (little Noi is hilarious and Sis is as irresistibly charming as the comedian who plays her) and heart. Humor runs throughout "Raya and the Last Dragon," and the tuk-tuk is an adorable animal sidekick.

[30] Inkoo Kang (The Hollywood Reporter): "'Raya and the Last Dragon' occasionally crawls along, but most of the time it has a sense of urgency and momentum. Just as impressive, it builds to a deeply moving climax, the resolution of which is both unexpected and perfect. This is a film that knows how to soar."
