The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro have been significantly improved.

These two phones now work on Verizon's 5G network when using an unlocked device with a Verizon SIM. While this is definitely a problem that should never have existed in the first place, it is nice to see it resolved so quickly after the phones were launched.

Verizon certification for the OnePlus 9 series applies to both Verizon and Visible plans, but the two 9 series models use slightly different methods.

The basic OnePlus 9 has access to LTE and Verizon's nationwide slower 5G signal. The OnePlus 9 Pro, on the other hand, can access mmWave Ultra Wideband 5G. In short, no matter which OnePlus 9 you purchase, you will have some 5G access on Verizon in the future.

This means that if you want a OnePlus 9 with 5G in the US, you can now choose which SIM to use; T-Mobile users have already been able to use 5G on their OnePlus 9 since launch day (March 26). However, neither model can offer 5G yet, as AT&T does not support the same 5G bands as the phone; while we like the look of the OnePlus 9, if you currently have a contract with AT&T, you may want to switch to a new provider if you decide to buy.
