The revival of the Hummer will continue with a series of electric vehicles scheduled to hit showrooms beginning in 2023.

All 2023 models will have a range of up to 300 miles and will feature an extract mode in which an air suspension system lifts the vehicle about six inches off the ground to avoid getting stuck off-road. The vehicle will also feature "Club Walk," which turns all four wheels at once and allows the vehicle to travel at an angle (albeit at low speed), and GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system.

First off the production line will be the 830-horsepower Hummer EV Edition 1, with a range of over 300 miles before needing to be recharged, 11,500 lb-ft of torque, and the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, available in early 2023 for $105,. 595. A version with the "Extreme Off-Road Package" costs $5,000 more and adds 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires, underbody armor, and an Ultravision camera system.

The EV3X, with the same specs as the Edition 1, will be available this spring, but it lacks the appeal of the first edition. Still, the EV3X will sell for $99,995 when it launches in spring 2023, making it a $5,600 savings for non-early adopters.

Around the same time, a slightly lower-spec version called the EV2X will also be available. It will maintain a range of 300 miles, but will only have a maximum output of 625 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque. It will be priced at $89,995 and can be equipped with the optional Extreme Off-Road Package.

Then a year later, in the spring of 2024, comes the EV2, the least expensive of Hummer's EV family; the EV2 has the same lowered specs as the EV2X, but it also takes a hit in range, with a smaller battery and an uncharged range of only 250 miles. It also does not have a crab walk or extract mode.

The Hummer's rebirth as an EV is quite a turnaround for the Hummer, which was a typical gas-guzzling vehicle when it ceased production in 2010 in the face of high gasoline prices. But GM hopes the new look will help it appeal to a whole new generation of environmentally conscious buyers.

According to GM president Mark Reuss, this was always part of the plan, as he told CNBC earlier this year. 'We just wanted to do it. There's an opportunity with the truck. We always wanted to do this with a Hummer, but there were a lot of issues with the Hummer in terms of consuming a lot of gasoline."

Pre-orders for the Hummer SUV are now open, but if you wanted to get your hands on the Edition 1, which is currently listed as unavailable, it's already too late.
