White Lotus Season 2 Cast and Everything We Know So Far

Already waiting to check in for "White Lotus" Season 2. Comedy lovers will be looking forward to the next chapter in Mike White's HBO series. Season 1 of "White Lotus" followed the guests and employees of a tropical resort for a week. But the longer they spend there, the more they realize that things are not as idyllic as they were initially presented.

A stellar cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Steve Zahn, Molly Shannon, and Lucas Gage, combined with a great script, make "The White Lotus" one of HBO's funniest and most engrossing shows in recent memory.

Here's what we know so far about "The White Lotus" Season 2.

The show was initially announced as a miniseries, but fans and some of the actors have expressed a desire for a "White Lotus" Season 2. Thankfully, HBO seems to have heeded our pleas and confirmed that another episode is on the way.

Creator Mike White has been expressing interest in continuing the show for some time now, and in a July 18 interview with The New Yorker, White said he is already thinking about future episodes of the show. My hope is that maybe HBO might want to do "White Lotus" one more time," he explained. 'It might take place at a sister hotel, or it might be a different season. If HBO would let me do it, that would be cool. [Alexandra Daddario said, "I don't know much (about season 2), but with the way television is now with anthology shows, ...... I think there is always a way." Murray Bartlett agreed, adding: "This is Mike White's creation. He can make anything happen."

Announcing the news, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, said in a press release, "Mike [White] has once again delivered the quintessential HBO show and it is the talk of the town. After closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, we were thrilled to hear where he wants to go next.

Given that HBO just confirmed "White Lotus" Season 2, we don't know when the new episodes will be delivered, not to mention the time it will take to write the episodes given the potential production restrictions imposed by COVID-19, but the new season will appear in likely to be around 2022 or even 2023.

The first season of The White Lotus consisted of six episodes, so it stands to reason that season two will follow the same format; since the premiere on July 11, a new episode has arrived on HBO and its streaming platform every week, so it is likely that season two will likely see a similar release schedule when it comes to fruition.

It also seems logical to assume that the hour-long episode lengths will remain the same, but again, it is a little too early to say for sure.

Here's where things get really interesting: the first season of The White Lotus was set in a luxurious resort in Hawaii, and fans should not expect to return to the same location for season two. This time around, they will be heading to a completely new resort in a completely new city. No one knows where that is (at least no one except Mike White).

There are some clues, though. White recently hinted in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine prior to the Season 2 renewal that if he were to work on future episodes of the show, he would like to do them in a variety of places, including France and Japan. It may not be either place, but both sound equally exciting.

It's hard to imagine an entirely new cast for Season 2 or any other production. However, given that the new episodes will focus on a new resort with new staff and new guests, this ultimately means a significant cast turnover, especially in terms of guests.

Of course, there is always a small chance that some cast members will remain. They might be transferred to other resorts, or they might end up doing team training overseas. It is also possible that many actors will stay on the show, just because their roles change, as in "American Horror Story". We don't know what will happen, but we will have to wait and see.

In fact, White himself has suggested something similar, telling IndieWire: "I don't think I'd trust [all the guests from season one] to be on the same vacation again. But maybe we could do something like the Marvel Universe, where some of them come back."

Now that HBO has officially greenlit "White Lotus" Season 2, filming could begin as soon as possible, especially if White and the other writers have already started putting ideas on paper for what each episode will look like. At this point, however, it is impossible to even consider a shooting date.
