Apple's Spring Event 2022: iPhone SE3, iPad Pro, etc.

Apple's Spring Event 2022: iPhone SE3, iPad Pro, etc.

The next Apple event will take place in the spring and could unveil devices rumored to be unveiled by Apple in 2022. From the updated iPhone SE to the first ever Mac Pro, several signs point to new Apple products ready to debut in March or April.

Like other Apple events in 2021, the next Apple event will likely be virtual, broadcast from Apple Park. iPhone SE 3 with 5G and A15 Bionic chip may be on the way, although it will be too early for iPhone 14. Like the iPhone SE (2020), the iPhone SE 3 might maintain a sub-$400 price point.

However, Apple is not known for holding events with just one device. Other possible announcements include a 27-inch iMac Pro, a refreshed iPad Pro 2022, and a Mac mini. New iPhone 13 colors and updates to popular Apple services could also be announced.

With all the announcements rumored to be on Apple's schedule this year, exciting times are ahead. But keeping track of them can be tough, so we've compiled everything you need to know about what could be announced at the next Apple event.

The official date for the next Apple event has not yet been set. Based on precedent, we believe Apple will hold a spring event in March or April; the 2021 Spring Loaded keynote took place on April 20, so we will keep an eye on a similar calendar window.

Additionally, Apple always sends out official invitations a week before the event is scheduled to air. The invitations feature a theme that hints at the announcement and should correspond to a special Twitter hash flag.

The iPhone SE 3 (or iPhone SE Plus) could present two major upgrades compared to the iPhone SE released in 2022. First, the iPhone SE 3 should get 5G connectivity now that there are some of the best 5G phones under $500, the expected price of the iPhone SE 3, and even under $400.

Second, the iPhone SE 3 should have the A15 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 13. This will make the new budget iPhone faster than its predecessor. iPhone SE battery life could also improve over the generations.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 3 will keep the same design and resemble the iPhone 8 with Touch ID and a larger forehead. It is possible that the new handset will adopt the iPhone XR body, but we have only seen concept art that suggests a more refined look.

We have yet to hear anything about the iPhone SE 3 camera. We are hoping the iPhone SE 3 will support night mode.

In 2022, the large-screen iMac is expected to be refreshed, and one leaker with a very strong track record (Dylandkt) says it will be rebranded as the iMac Pro. This should differentiate it from the 24-inch iMac, but the label Pro suggests that further upgrades are hidden.

What we do know based on rumors is that the iMac Pro should feature the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips found in the new MacBook Pro. it could have HDMI, SD card, USB-C ports, and possibly Face ID. According to Dylandkt, prices will start at $2,000 "and up."

Not much information has come in about the iPad, but that doesn't mean the Pro model won't get a spring refresh. After all, Apple announced the iPad Pro (2021) at its last spring event.

The iPad Pro 2022 may feature the M1 Pro chip found in the latest MacBook Pro computers, but another rumor suggests that the next iPad may feature the first 3-nanometer chip. Not much is known about this new chip beyond that it may improve both performance and efficiency.

Rumors are swirling about an upgraded Mac mini that may feature the M1X chip and a new design. Whether this device will be unveiled at the next Apple event remains to be seen.

iDrop News has inside information from an Apple marketing source that Apple had originally planned to launch the new Mac mini along with the upcoming MacBook Pro, but will delay the launch to "make the laptop shine."

However, the report claims to have inside information from the supply chain that production of the new Mac mini is proceeding at a rapid pace. Therefore, it is possible that a new Mac mini will be announced soon, but no specific date has been given.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro: The iPhone 13 lineup is the best ever in the iPhone series, with brighter displays, longer battery life, and powerful cameras. iPhone 13 Pro's adaptive 120 Hz display is also fantastic.

Apple Watch 7: Coming this fall, the Apple Watch 7 features a larger display, curvier casing, and brighter screen than last year's model.

iPad (2021): Upgraded slightly, the Pad 2021 is a well-made tablet with an outdated design that offers a great screen, smooth performance, and excellent battery life at a reasonable price.

iPad mini (2021): The iPad mini 6 2021 is the small but powerful iPad we needed, with a surprisingly portable and lightweight design and a fast A15 Bionic processor.

Other products we heard about in early rumors include the AirPods Pro 2, which is definitely due for a refresh. Further on the horizon are Apple Glasses and Apple VR, a mixed reality headset. And the Apple Car may also make an appearance at some point down the road.

Tim Cook is said to be planning to step down after "one more" major product launch between 2025 and 2028.

So keep an eye on Apple's events in Tom's Guide.
